SMITH: INTUIT NOT GOING UP MARKET

Brad Smith, IntuitCEO Brad Smith's statement this month that Intuit will not go up market should not surprise anyone. It simply describes what we have seen in the way Intuit has operated distribution and development for QuickBooks Enterprise Suite. However, Smith's comments at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2013 Global Technology Conference marks a definitive statement about strategy that I don't remember Intuit having articulated so clearly. MBS: EXEC CHANGES COMING?

Michael Park, MicrosoftThe Dynamics channel is start to bubble with speculation that there are some serious executive changes likely at Microsoft Business Solutions. SAGE SELLS $400M U.S. NOTES

SageSage has completed a $400 million issue of U.S. Private Placement loan notes. This is one of those things that does not have a lot of immediate interest in the channel (or probably to anybody but the purchasers and Sage). But the loan issue suggests a certain amount of confidence in the over-all business. At least, it would take a positive image of the company in the United States in order to float the notes, something better than having Sage viewed as a producer of Stone Age software, as often described by rival NetSuite. MicrosoftMicrosoft is readying the launch of the next generation of Dynamics CRM, code-named Orion. But probably more important to resellers from a business point of view is the company’s move to discontinue Dynamics CRM Online on the platform of Microsoft Business Solutions, the company unit responsible for the four Dynamics accounting packages.
