SAGE RV ROLLS ALONG

Sage North America executives have been rotating in and out of the Sagemobile as they head across the country in the 50-day Sage Listens RV Relay. While Sage is setting out to show the channel and customers that it cares, something else occurred to me. As I entered the ballroom at the Westminster Hotel in Livingston, N.J. – home town of Sage VAR SWK Technologies – it struck me how few people there were from Sage that I know because of the turnover in the last two years.

Microsoft says revenue from Dynamics rose by 13 percent for the year ended June 30. The company does not disclose revenue and it did not provide a separate percentage report for fourth-quarter sales. However a comparison with prior quarterly reports shows an acceleration of sales. For the nine months ended March 31, Dynamics revenue was up 11 percent over the prior year.

The Asian market dented SAP’s results for the second quarter ended June 30 as the company reported an after-tax profit increase of 10 percent on a 4-percent rise in revenue. Those are IFRS results. The revenue drop was 3 percent in constant currencies. After tax profit is about $947.4 million, when converted at today’s euro exchange rate. Revenue was about $5.32 billion.

Alan Bryant, who has worked for Sage North America since January 2004, has joined Intacct as director of technical services. Bryant was most recently Sage’s SVP of ISV and developer relations. But he has been part of the Sage world even longer. For 21 years, he was president and CEO of Macabe Associates, an important Sage ISV.
KASEYA ACQUIRES TWO CLOUD OPS

Kaseya, which makes products for managed services provider, has acquired two cloud companies in the last week. Fresh off an undisclosed infusion of capital from Insight Venture Partners last month, Kaseya has acquired Zyrion and Rover Apps. Terms were not disclosed for either deal. Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, and New York, N.Y., Kaseya announced the Zyrion buy on July 9.

Deltek has acquired Acumen, an Austin, Texas-based company that markets project management software and services. Terms were not disclosed. Acumen CEO Dan Patterson will be VP of product strategy under Namita Dhallan, EVP of product strategy and engineering.

Sage Nonprofit Solutions, which was sold to Accel-KKR in March, has become Abila. The new company name was rolled out this week, although the operation remains in Austin, Texas, which has been its home as Sage and as Micro Information Products, the predecessor company that originated the Sage Fund Accounting line. CEO Krista Endsley, SVP of the Sage unit for four years, said the company will remain faithful to channel distribution. It also plans a CPA program for later this year.

British Dynamics VAR m-Hance has opened a headquarters in Boston and appointed a VP of sales for North America. The move was termed “ part of its ambitious worldwide growth plans.” The company named Paul Crompton to the sales VP job. Crompton was U.S. sales manager for V1 Document Management from June 2009 until May this year and was sales director for Datel from May 1997 through May 2009.

Epicor Software has released iScala 3.0, which features integration to the Epicor Ice business architecture. The architecture was already available for Epicor ERP, Prophet 21 and Eclipse and supports SQL Server 2012. Ice provides out-of-the box support for business activity queries with point-and-click access to data tables in iScala.
