AUSSIE QUICKEN NAME CHANGED

Gavin Dixon, ReckonWhen is Quicken not Quicken? It is when it is the newly named Reckon Accounts, marketed by the company which has been Intuit’s partner in Australia. In March, Reckon told Intuit it would not renew the agreement via which it has sold Quicken and QuickBooks products in that country. That agreement expires on Feb. 14, 2014 and the company expects to save about $6.2 million in annual royalty payments to Intuit.

ACUMATICA GETS CPE APPROVAL

Mike Silver, AcumaticaAcumatica is now registered as a sponsor of continuing education by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. The cloud vendor is now listed on NASBA's National Registry of CPE sponsors. Mike Silver, director of partner enablement for Acumatica, noted that about 25 percent of the company's resellers are CPAs. The approval lets CPAs receive CPE credit by taking Acumatica product training programs that cover its financial, distribution CRM and project accounting suites. Read more...

The new rates went into effect on September 1 and are valid through June 30, the end of Microsoft’s fiscal year. The playbook emerging is not a big surprise – resellers need to move from simply reselling Microsoft software to adding their own IP and specialization and that message has been around for a few years. David Jackman, Pronto SoftwareAustralian vendor Pronto Software has opened an office in Dallas, Texas. The Melbourne-based financial software company has had a channel recruitment effort in this country for about two years but at last count had signed only five VARs in the United States and Canada so this represents a significant acceleration of efforts here. The company also opened new branches in its home country in Perth and Adelaide, along with doubling space at its Melbourne Development Centre and establishing a new Sri Lanka Development Group based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. SAGE PUTS OUT YEAR-END UPDATES

There is one notable feature, Visual Process Flows available in both accounting software packages. ADAPTIVE PLANNING NAMES CFO

David Pefley, Adaptive Planning Adaptive Planning has named David Pefley as CFO. Pefley takes over from founder Robert Hull who has been cutting back the number of titles that he holds. That includes shedding the CEO position last fall when the company hired John Herr for that Job. Hull still holds the title of president. Pefley joins the maker of on line budgeting software after serving a year as a consultant. Read more...

The integration, 3CSugarCRM, links the open source CRM product with inbound, outbound and blended contact center applications. The system supports voice, chat, text, and social media interactions across the contact center within SugarCRM and also provides PCI compliance by eliminating the need store customer credit card information in SugarCRM or in the 3CLogic contact center platform. The 3CLogic centers are hosted on Amazon Web Services.
