MHANCE OPENS IN INDIA

 Claire Carter, m-HanceM-hance, a Microsoft VAR based in England, has opened an office in Pune, India. The office will operate as a technical development center with the goal of launching more than 20 new products in key vertical markets in 2013. M-hance was formed in 2011 through the amalgamation of several Dynamics resellers in the United Kingdom. The company is not selling products in the United States but has a development office here.

ACUMATICA HIRES ENGINEERING VP

Oleg Shaikhatarov, AcumaticaAcumatica has named Oleg Shaikhatarov as VP of Engineering. The new executive, operating from the company’s development office in Moscow, Russia, reports to Yury Larichev, who recently moved from the COO job to the CEO slot. The company said Shaikhatarov will work with Acumatica founder and chief technology officer Mike Chtchelkonogov.

Anyone that is seriously in the retail business exhibited at the National Retail Federation conference in New York this week. And major players like Microsoft and Epicor took the opportunity to introduced new products as part of the usual fanfare surrounding this important event. COO BECOMES ACUMATICA CEO

Yury Larichev, AcumaticaAcumatica has promoted its relatively new COO to the job of CEO. Yury Larichev, who joined the company in April has taken over the position from Ezequiel Steiner who had been CEO since 2009. Steiner remains as president and a member of the board of directors. He will oversee strategy and operations and is responsible for the company's OEM business. Read more...

QUICKEN GOING TO THE CLOUD

Brad Smith, IntuitIntuit is writing a cloud version of Quicken, its decades-old personal finance application. The new platform will let both Mac and Windows users utilize the same code base, according to CEO Brad Smith. Smith made this comments at this week’s shareholder meeting in answer to a question from a shareholder who runs a business that serves clients using the Mac desktop product. She noted she made that complaint at the 2011 meeting and was hoping for good news for clients.

SAP BOOMS IN 2012; CLOUD HOT

The SAP financial express kept zipping along in 2012. The company reporting a 9-percent rise in operating profit on an 11-percent increase in revenue. Meanwhile, software revenue was 8-percent higher than in 2012. The company said operating profit reached about $2.13 billion in the recently ended year. Software revenue hit $1.94 billion and total revenue $6.7 billion. Read more...

TWO PRONGED GP CERTIFICATION SET

Microsoft has set up two tracks for developers to certify applications for Dynamics GP 2013. The company noted this ends the practice of the last five years in which there was a single set of certification requirements. Microsoft said the change is being made because "with the evolution of partner solutions from being primarily on-premise to a mix of on-premise and cloud solutions, we realized that a single set of requirements does not fit for all partners." RETAIL PRO ADDS LOYALTY SERVICES

Retail Pro International has made available the AppCard customer loyalty service with its Retail Pro POS applications. The company said cloud-based AppCard requires no integration with the POS. The system works with both Retail Pro 9 and Prism and enables merchants to offer shoppers personalized offers, earn rewards and free gifts, and get live digital receipts via the AppCard smartphone app or Web account, AppCard also offers analytics with data accessible through a dashboard or by drilling down to reports. There is also a five-tier loyalty program so that customers can receive more rewards as they increase spending. Retailers can also tailor offers customers’ purchasing history, age, gender, buying preferences, geographic location

ADAPTIVE PLANNING HIRES SAP EXEC

Carolee Gearhart,  Adaptive PlanningAdaptive Planning has named SAP veteran, Carolee Gearhart, as VP of global channels and partners. Gearhart was global VP for SAP's OEM business from  November 2010 through December 2012 and had been VP of business development from April 2006 through October 2010. She was VP of global channels for PeopleSoft from 1992 through 2001. The Adaptive planning job is a new position and Gearhart's responsibility is to grow the channel from its current 400 members.
