MICROSOFT GOING MULTI-PLATFORM

Kirill Tatarinov, MicrosoftOne of the signs of change was Kirill Tatarinov standing before room full of press people and commenting, "I've never seen so many Apple laptops in one room." Then there was Craig Dewar starting his presentation at about mobility capabilities of Dynamics CRM on an iPad. That highlighted this week's keynote at the Convergence conference by Microsoft COO Kevin Turner that the company is going to support multiple platforms and devices.

E2B PICKS UP SUGARCRM

E2b Teknologies joins the parade of Sage resellers picking up SugarCRM. The Chardon, Ohio-based reseller was announced as the first Sugar VAR in Ohio. E2b carries Sage 500 and also sells Epicor 9. The move broadens the dealer's CRM line of business It was already carrying Sage's SalesLogix and SageCRM. It also handles Anytime Collect, an accounts receivable and credit and collections package. Kevin Turner, MicrosoftDuring a keynote session at the Convergence user conference, Microsoft's COO, Kevin Turner, pointed to his company's ability to serve Dynamics customers via private, pubic and hybrid clouds. At a press briefing about plans for Dynamics NAV, the company's Dan Brown noted the company's more frequent release schedule.

TRIBRIDGE MASTER VAR GOALS MODEST

Tribridge, one of three Dynamics Master VARs, has some modest goals for signing sales affiliates under the new channel program. The Tampa, Fla.-based company, which just signed its first affiliate, is interviewing a handful of prospects at Convergence, the Dynamics user conference, according to Jeff Lynn, the VP who leads the program “We are not in the Master VAR game as a volume play,” Lynn said during an interview at the show.

MICROSOFT MASTER VARS GOING GLOBAL

Doug Kennedy, MicrosoftMicrosoft plans to take its fledgling Master VAR program international. That message was delivered at the Convergence user conference in Houston this week by Doug Kennedy, VP of Dynamics partners. Kennedy said that company has identified 15 candidates besides the three already named for the United States.

SIKICH PICKS UP AX VAR

Al Galinot, Streamline SystemsCPA firm Sikich has acquired Streamline Systems, a Dynamics AX VAR with about $5 million in revenue. Terms were not disclosed. The deal was accomplished as a merger and broadens the Sikich product line to include all four Dynamics financial applications. Steamline, based in Denver, Colo., has an AMR Advanced Industry Certification for Discrete Manufacturing which will amplify the firm's manufacturing practice.

ACUMATICA GETS M'SOFT MARKETING VIP

Stijn Hendrikse, MicrosoftStijn Hendrikse, who has held global positions with Microsoft, is joining online application vendor Acumatica in April. Hendrikse, who has been with Microsoft for 12 years, has been senior marketing director for a year and has had worldwide marketing responsibility for the Small & Medium Business segment. He has had some other heavy weight jobs at Microsoft including director of MS Office, director of competitive strategy, director of public sector and chief of staff.

FOUR NETSUITE EXECS GET RAISES

Zach Nelson, NetSuiteNetSuite has raised the base salaries of four of its executives effective April 1. The increases range from 6.7 percent to 20 percent. And raising the base gives each of the four a chance to earn higher incentive pay. CEO Zach Nelson will draw $485,000 annually, up 7.8 percent from $450,000. Read more...

EUROPEAN RESELLERS AND THE U.S.

Europe The number of European Dynamics reseller news items this week has to do with my belief that we are going to see more European organizations move into this country. However, it is not clear that to all that there is a trend. Did the purchase of First Tech Direct by Columbus mean one is underway? A channel source familiar with European operations said he did not understand this move. But with things tough in Europe because of the debt crisis, it has to be tempting to look for revenue generators in this country where business is better.

SQL SERVER 2012 LOOMING

Microsoft has released SQL Server 2012 to manufacturing, but as is usual, the product is already in use in a lot of places. The software giant also said it would release an additional limited preview of an Apache Hadoop-based service for Windows Azure before mid-year. When I saw the word “Hadoop”, I said, “Bless you” and then ran off to Wikipedia to catch up on my geek-ese. A limited preview of the Hadoop-based service was released in December. There is a bunch of data warehousing stuff coming out with the general availability of SQL Server 2010 on April 1. Call for details.
