EPICOR’S ERP REVS UP 6.4 PERCENT

Pervez Qureshi, EpicorEpicor Software reported revenue rose to $133.4 million for the first quarter ended December 31 while its retail revenue dropped. That ERP figure was out of a total of $209.4 million, up from $89.8 million a year earlier. The basic financial reports are a tough read in the usual analytical terms since the year-ago comparison are for Epicor before it was melded with Activant under the Epicor name. Read more...

SAP AND GOOGLE COLLABORATE

SAP is announcing the availability of two out of three cloud-based initiatives that were launched by Google and SAP last year. These include a cloud application, SnapEdge Live Chat that was developed on the Google App Engine and integrated into Business ByDesign. Live Chat is available on the SAP store. ByD also got Android Support as SAP also released its player for Android-based devices on the Android app Store. The cloud-based application also had mobile functionality for iOS devices, Blackberry and Windows phones.

EXACT RESULTS FALL ON COUNTRY EXITS

exact new logoExact ended 2011 with a 5.5-percent drop in revenue because of the company’s closure of operations in several countries last year and divestment of its Sligo subsidiary in 2010. Net profit dropped to about $19.3 million, off by 55.7 percent from 2010. The bottom line was impacted by an impairment charge of about $24 million for its Longview operations.

FISHBOWL OFFERS CLOUD CONTACT MANAGER

Fishbowl Inventory has debuted a web-based CRM product, the Pipeline Contact Manager. The Salt Lake City, Utah-based software publisher says the product is available at pre-release pricing for a limited time. Pipeline is integrated with Fishbowl Inventory 2012. Pipeline features include lead tracking, task and opportunity tracking and custom fields.

FINANCIALFORCE HIRES NETSUITE SALES PRO

FinancialForce.com, the company owned by Salesforce and Unit4, has appointed Neil Harvey, former NetSuite OpenAir sales director for the EMEA and APAC regions. Harvey has more than 20 years of sales experience, including his stint with NetSuite's OpenAir operations where he was managing director of the same region from August 2009 through August 2011. He has also held sales leadership positions at PortWise, Magic Solutions and Veritas. While the company announced the hiring this month, Harvey's Linkedin page shows he started with Financialforce in November.

CDC SOFTWARE APPEALS INJUNCTION

cdc software logoThe complicated litigation involving CDC Software and CDC Corp, which is its indirect majority shareholder, continued in bankruptcy court this week. CDC is appealing two court decisions. In one, a bankruptcy court granted a preliminary injunction in which CDC Corp. sought to block CDC Software’s sale of its Tradebeam and Ross Systems subsidiaries.

open systems logo Open Systems has acquired reseller InterMicro and is using the former VAR's operations to move into offices in Greenville, S.C., and Edmond, Okla. Founded in 1993, InterMicro was headed by president Jim Robinson, who joins Open Systems as an executive sales consultant.

SAGE BUYS IRISH PAYMENT PROCESSOR

sagelogo80The Sage Group, which has been getting back into the M&A game, picked up its first target of 2012. The company, based in the United Kingdom, has acquired Integral Computers Ltd., a Dublin, Ireland-based payment processing provider for about $26.1 million in cash. Integral was founded in 1989 and provides services to small retailers that have standalone or electronic point-of-sale payment needs.

AVALARA TARGETS $40M SALES

Kevin Riegelsberger, AvalaraAvalara intends to increase its revenue to about $40 million for 2012, a roughly 50-percent increase from 2011 as it seeks to ramp up its business. The Bainbridge Island, Wash.-based company also plans to add 100 staffers this year to bring employment to 370, according to President Kevin Riegelsberger. Read more...
