INTUIT ACCOUNTING PROGRAM GOES GLOBAL

Rich WalkerVeteran Intuit staffer Rich Walker, who has handled public relations for the American accountant program, will direct the company's efforts to expand its accountant efforts in the English-speaking world. Walker has been named to the new position of director of accountant strategy and programs with the Intuit Global Business Division.

Walker, who will be based in San Francisco, will manage a team in United Kingdom, Singapore and Canada. He said his responsibility in the new position is "to manage existing efforts and create new programs to engage accounting professionals with Intuit on a worldwide basis." Intuit derives the overwhelming among of its revenue from the United States. In the last three years, it has expanded operations to India with the introduction of a personal banking application. It has been moving its QuickBooks accounting package into other English-speaking countries and has been testing QuickBooks Online as it formulates a retail program in the U.K. The company has also discussed the possibility of moving into the Chinese market via mobile applications.
