BIZ OBJECTS GOES SAAS

SAP has rolled out a SaaS version of BusinessObjects which it called Business Objects BI OnDemand that is designed for casual users. The official announcements described the product serves users underserved by products on the market, which I guess means competing products. And the description includes one of those phrases that usually has me lifting an eyebrow (got tired of lifting it so I glued it up), which is that "will allow them to be up and running with no prior experience or training."
I think we've heard that before, usually as understated as the phrase “some assembly required.” Users are supposed to be able to access and navigate data from any source via the BusinessObjects Explorer. Continuing on the ease-of-use theme, users in this technology Nirvana can "combine that data in just a few clicks" and follow a guide path that walks them through reporting and analysis. Think this product has the danger of being over sold? It's not just a slicer. It's not just a dicer. It can access, explore, visual and share data without users needing to switch between applications. And it can Julienne carrots at the same time!  And for our Spanish friends: "No es solamente un slicer. No es solamente un dicer." Operators are standing by now. [Apologies to the comic Gallagher]
