MASTER VARS MUST SIGN 100?
No one should be surprised that an announcement this week of Microsoft’s Master VAR program has been delayed. I didn’t really think the lawyers going over the documents wanted to work into the beginnings of the holiday weekend. The latest development reported is that Microsoft has set targets for the number of smaller fry that Master VARs must sign up.
One report said that candidates need to sign up 100 by year's end. Another report suggests they need to sign 30 to 50 as Microsoft looks for a way to shelter smaller dealers while trying to get rid of up to 650 Dynamics dealers over the next year. In either case, it's going to take a lot of work on everyone's part. The other theme coming through loud and clear is that Microsoft is going to send a big message to buying groups, which are not going to be allowed.
