XERO’S U.S. CEO LEAVING Featured

Peter Karpas, XeroPeter Karpas has stepped down from his position as CEO of Xero’s North American operations after about seven months on the job. The New Zealand-based cloud software company said Xero CFO Ross Jenkins, based in San Francisco, Calif., will hold down operations until a replacement is found. Xero made the announcement earlier this month in filings with the New Zealand stock exchange. Xero CEO Rod Drury thanked Karpas for his work in helping “establish strong foundations for Xero in the U.S. market.”

It did not give an end date for Karpas. Xero will need someone in place since it plans an initial public offering in this country before its year ends on March 31. Xero also plans to build its U.S. and world markets and “expects to make a number of key appointments over the next three months.” Whatever his contributions, Karpas made them since joining in February as the first CEO for the accounting software company on this continent. Before that his positions include three-and-a-half years with PayPal and slightly more than 10 years at Intuit where he was an SVP and later president of the Quicken Health operations.
