Ali Jani, AcumaticaAcumatica pumped out its latest edition of its software with an emphasis on CRM, dashboards and a new API. The cloud and desktop software vendor this week also used the roll out in Boston, Mass., as a chance to bring in some reseller prospects—whose names shall remain private, for the moment. New in Acumatica 6 is an integrated CRM-Acumatica add-in for Microsoft Outlook.

"We have been putting a lot of focus on CRM," said Ali Jani, the company's VP of partner strategy, product management, and services. That includes the ability to capture email messages and store them in Acumatica. In the dashboard arena, the emphasis was on customizing those tools. There is a set of widgets and users can add new widgets for refining dashboards' look and ability to query information. Dashboards can display data from a variety of sources, not just from Acumatica. Jani said that can include analytics tools, different website and data grids from legacy systems. "You can create queries that pull data from third-party solutions," Jani said, citing the Salesforce cloud among others. The other major topic, the inclusion of REST API in Acumatica's software. The API was pictured as s hot among developers. REST stands for representational state transfer and is described as contract-based with the same base as the SOAP API, already available in Acumatica 5.3 REST is designed to provide Improved customization, easier programming and improved mobile response.
