CEO Rod Drury noted that five-and-a-half years ago the company had 50,000 subscribers. The 1 million total compares to 1,876,000 for Intuit's QuickBooks Online when its second financial quarter ended on January 31. The company added almost 620,000 from the end of the second quarter of 2016. Xero ends its financial year this week and can be expected to issue a breakdown on subscriber growth by country.

Xero has announced that it has recently passed one million subscribers. The New Zealand-based cloud software company said that it doubled its subscriber base in less than two years, adding nearly 300,000 in the last year.
