AVALARA NAMES PRESIDENT Featured

Avalara has named its CFO, Ross Tennenbaum, to the position of  president. He fills a job left vacant in March 2023 when Amit Mathadras left to become CEO of Nintex, after nearly four years in the Avalara job.

In the new role, Tennenbaum will oversee the majority of the company’s business operations and will lead the teams responsible for Avalara’s customer and compliance operations, finance functions, India operations, and legal functions. Tennenbaum, who became CFO in April 2020, joined the sales-and-use-tax software company in March 2019 as EVP of the strategic initiatives group. Before that, he was a managing director at Goldman Sachs where he worked for four years seven months.  He reports to CEO and founder, Scott McFarlane, who celebrated 20 years in that role last month. Given that length of tenure, it’s hard not to muse on the possibility this could be a succession plan in action.
