DELTEK’S PACKAGE FOR NEW EXEC

Relocation packages for executives are always interesting. Given the way Steve Elop, former president of the Microsoft Business Division soaked Microsoft for $6.5 million to pay for his house when he left after two years with the company, what Hugo Dorph got from Herndon, Va.-based Deltek is certainly modest. But it’s still interesting.

He’s allowed relocation expenses at cost up to $147,718. That includes up to $4,468 for pet air fare, up to $16,000 for language training (which would seem to be essential) and up to $4,000 for cultural training (how to say “inside the Beltway” and “the Redskins stink”, I suppose). The biggest chunk was up to $42,073 for furniture relocation. Then there’s the on-going allowances for the two years he’s here of up to $254,136. More than half that is the housing allowance of $135,198 and the second highest amount is up to $40,600 for dependent education. The $10,150 in tax preparation fees actually gets subtracted from the total since that service is provided to executives by the company. After two years, there’s up to $104,595 to send him and everything back to Denmark with $43,335 to transport the furniture back across the Atlantic.
