VACIN EXITS XERO FOR START UP Featured

Ian Vacin, Balanced LabsIan Vacin, a key member of the team on this continent, has left Xero for a start up called Balanced Labs, which has offices in San Francisco, Calif.. and Sydney, Australia. Vacin was VP of marketing and product from April 2012 until his recent departure. Rod Drury, CEO of New Zealand-based Xero, said, "Ian's working for a Xero add-on start up so still in the ecosystem. He made a fantastic contribution and we wish him well." Balanced Lab founders, CEO Stuart McLeod, and CTO John Freeman, founded PayCycle Australia, purchased by Xero in 2011.

The bare-bones Balanced Labs website talks about developing a SaaS tax application, and needing an engineer to work with the CTO on that application. The site says they grew Xero to "become a billion-dollar business", which must mean the volume of platform transactions. Balanced Labs also seek a Senior Front End Developer in San Francisco "to build more intelligent collaboration and workflow tools" for accountants with immediate work on a mobile app. One benefit listed I love for a start up: "We require you to take at least 7 consecutive days off."
