The fortunate thing about my being at the Acumatica Summit this week was being able to talk with so many Sage resellers. And they are not a happy group given the sudden series of name changes to key parts of the Sage software lineup.

Sage has made official the name changes to its product line that have been previously applied to elements of the Sage Business Cloud. In this week's Sage Capital Markets Day presentation, Nick Goode, VP of product, made repeated references to products "formerly known as".

SSI Consulting has made Gary Prioste CEO of the Vienna, Va.-based reselling firm. Prioste replaces Bill Aiton, who held that position for 13 years. SSI was recently purchased by Santa Clara, Calif.-based Menlo Technologies.

Kirill Tatarinov, who once led Microsoft's Dynamics business, has joined Acumatica's board of directors. Given the number of ex-Microsoft people at Acumatica and the number of Russians at top levels of the cloud software company, he fits right in.

Vertex has hired Akram El-Rikabi to lead European operations. The indirect tax software company says the hiring reflects its growth in the market there. Although the announcement was this week, his LinkedIn page shows he began work with the company in August.
SAGE ORGANIC REVS UP 6.3 PERCENT

Organic revenue for the Sage Group rose by 6.3 percent for the first quarter ended December 31. In this week's trading update, CFO Stephen Hare said results was in line with expectations and the company expects growth to accelerate this year.
