UXC TARGETED AX GROWTH IN U.S.

Cris Nicolli, UXC Ltd.The message was not made in its statement about acquisition of the Tectura's North American business. But UCX Ltd. said in its 2013 annual report that market was one of its prime areas. "High market growth of Microsoft Dynamics AX in the North American and US market presents an opportunity for increased growth within a sector in which we have strong Global leadership," managing director Cris Nicolli wrote in the document on August 22.

INFOR STARTS MICRO-VERTICAL PROGRAM

Tony Petrucciani,  Single Source SystemsInfor has started a micro-vertical product program for partners based on the Infor Mongoose development framework. Partners can build industry-specific applications with the Mongoose platform enabling them to more easily design and deploy applications without knowledge of complex source code or programming languages. After presenting an application idea to Infor, partners have the opportunity to build and promote the envisioned product with the help of Infor's technical staff and global sales organization.

AVALARA CHANGES CHANNEL INCENTIVES

Pascal Van Dooren,  Avalara Avalara is increasing the commission its channel members can earn on business referred to the sales-and-use tax company. The company is keeping the rewards front-reward based on input from the channel. "The overwhelming feedback from our partners was that they wanted more upfront, and cared much less about recurring amounts which were too small and too far out in the future," says Pascal Van Dooren, EVP of marketing and sales for the Bainbridge Island, Wash.-based company.

NEW MACOLA VERSION DEBUTS IN APRIL

ExactExact Macola plans to unveil an updated version of the venerable manufacturing software package at its new Evolve conference. The product is billed as a “next-generation solution designed to better serve its primary customer base as well as larger mid-market organizations”.

UXC ECLIPSE BUYS TECTURA

Bradley Stroop, UXC Eclipse GroupUXC Eclipse, which moved into the United States with the purchase of the former Cole Systems, has acquired Tectura, the country's largest midmarket reseller. The amount of the sale was undisclosed. The deal leaves Tectura EMEA and Tectura Asia still operating and apparently fairly sizable. No one should be surprised by the deal for Tectura's North American operations as it had stagnated over the last few years.

ADVENT MAKES UNIT4 OFFER

Unit4Advent International has begun its previously announced cash tender offer for all the shares of Unit4. The offering period for tendering shares began on December 23 and ends on February 28. The management and supervisory boards of Unit4, which markets the Coda and Agresso lines, have recommended the offer, which translates into about $53.23 per share with the total offering worth about $1.6 billion.

Khloé Kardashian Saw an ad this week for an exercise place. It promised "Get the body you deserve." Sadly, I already have. .... According to a tabloid headline, basketball player Lamar Odom who is being divorced from Khloé Kardashian is demanding $50 million or he'll ruin the Kardashians. Ruin the Kardashians? Frankly, I don't believe that is that possible? You remember Kloey who looks like a heftier version of Kim and Kourtney? One of these things is not like the other. ... McDonalds has an inventory of 10 million pounds of frozen wings because its Mighty Wings product was a flop.

EC SOLUTIONS TOP EPICOR AMERICAS VAR

André Paquet,  EC Solutions EC Solutions was chosen Top Reseller Partner for Epicor in the Americas. The Laval, Quebec-based organization was founded in 2004 and is a fairly typical VAR in that its web page says nothing about the people who run it. But a couple of Google searches show that André Paquet, VP of sales and marketing, is one of the co-owners. (Violating one of Taylor Macdonald's prime directives which is that VARs are selling themselves, not the product. But they seem to be doing well).
