Jeeves Information Systems, a financial software company based in Stockholm, Sweden, has opened its United States headquarters in Austin, Texas. CEO Jeff Tognoni said the new office will serve existing customers of JeevesERP in this country while he is also looking to market the product line more aggressively here. Jeeves is targeting small to midmarket manufacturers and distributors. Tognoni touted the ability of users to develop a highly customized system on top of a standard feature set.

AccuFund has named its top resellers for 2013. The awards were given late last month during the annual reseller meeting of the nonprofit accounting software vendor late last month, Mountaineer Computer Systems of Lewisburg, West, Va., was named volume sales leader overall and volume leader in government sector sales. Mountaineer, led by president James Copland, was runner-up last year as leader in overall sales.

Microsoft this week rolled out its Windows 8.1 Update. And the headline for the part of the press release that announces the changes says a lot about the issues the Windows 8 series has face: "easier to use, runs great on more devices." I suppose that's as opposed to not so easy to run and running OK on some devices. A big concession is the continuing acknowledgment that not everybody wants a touch screen interface. In the official words, "Key features of the update include user interface improvements for mouse and keyboard users, the ability to access the taskbar from any screen and pin Windows Store apps to the taskbar."
SWK TO PURCHASE ESC SOFTWARE

SWK Technologies has signed a letter of intent to acquire ESC Software, a Tempe, Ariz.-based reseller. Both companies sell Sage software and Acumatica. Founded in 2000, ESC is headed by Alan Hardy. The organization was originally part of the Clifton Gunderson Southwest Technology Group and spun off from that firm in 2004. SilverSun Technologies, parent of SWK, said the deal would add about $1.7 million to its annual revenue.
XERO REVS UP 83 PERCENT

Cloud accounting vendor Xero reported revenue of roughly $60 million for the year ended March 31, up 83 percent from fiscal 2003. The New Zealand-based company said annualized subscriptions are roughly about $77.7 million for fiscal 2015. The net loss for the second half is expected to be "similar" to the roughly $30 million in red ink for the first half of fiscal 2014. Growth in North America was sharply higher, but on a small base. There were 18,000 users on the continent at the end of the year, an increase of 200 percent from 6,000 last year.
INFOR EXPECTS SMALL REV HIKE

Infor said it expects to report revenue in the range of $673.2 million to $677. 2 million for the third quarter ended February 31. Those preliminary results would reflect revenue growth of 1.1 percent to 1.7 percent over last year's corresponding period. The company issued the numbers in connection today's launch of an offering of $750 million of Senior Contingent Cash Pay Notes due 2021.
JOE HENDRIX OF SSYH DIES

Joe Hendrix, an owner of reselling firm, Stanley Stuart Yoffee & Hendrix, has died. His death was announced by his partner, SSYH CEO Angela Stuart, who said Hendrix died suddenly. Hendrix had been with Maitland, Fla.-based SSYH since 1995. SSYH carries Dynamics GP, NAV, SL and CRM and Acumatica. However, in its early days it was known primarily as a Solomon reseller.

Acumatica has hired SAP veteran Richard Duffy as its VP of partner strategy and enablement. He fills the position left vacant when the former title holder, Mike Silver, bolted the company in August for a similar position with Intacct after 16 months in that job. Duffy was with SAP from August 2003 until taking the Acumatica job. That experience included serving as Business One sales and marketing programs manager since August 2009.

Hitachi Solutions America, a Dynamics AX and CRM reseller, has acquired Customer Effective, one of Microsoft's top CRM VARs. Hitachi said the deal will add around 90 highly-skilled CRM resources throughout North America. Customer Effective CEO Scott Millwood, has become SVP Hitachi Solutions Global CRM practice.

SilverSun Technologies, parent of Sage reseller, SWK Technologies, turned a profit of $322,548 for the year ended December 31, compared to a 2012 loss of just over $1.2 million. The bottom line benefited from a $120,000 income tax benefit. The company said this week that came as revenue rose 32 percent to $17.4 million in the most recently ended year, compared to $13.2 million for the prior year. SilverSun said sales of Sage's X3 system were largely responsible for the growth in software and consulting services last year.
