Sage North America is introducing the Sage Advisor Dashboard for Partners at the end of the month. The company says the online tool, available via the Sage Partner Portal, is designed to provide the channel with same kind of customer information that the vendor has. "If they call into tech support on how to use something, it captures that," was one example provided by Donald Deshaies, VP of channel management.
JEEVES BUYS SWISS FIRM

Sweden's Jeeves Information Systems has acquired privately held ERP SolvAxis, which is headquartered in Switzerland. Terms were not disclosed. Although this does not directly impact the United States, it follows on the heels of Jeeves opening a U.S. office and launching JeevesERP Version 4 in the last month. Jeeves is one of those companies with private equity money behind it, in this case Battery Ventures. which cobbled together Consona, which later merged with CDC Software to produce Aptean.

SAP hasn't been modest in its earnings calls in the last couple of years and generally, it's got the numbers to back that up. The company said its cloud run-rate is about $1.5 billion. So this week's first quarter webcast had executives touting SAP as the top cloud company. "We are not only growing cloud faster than our nearest competitor," said co-CEO Bill McDermott, "We help [customers] run their entire businesses in the cloud which our competitors just don't do."

Exact has partnered with WiSys to provide warehouse management capabilities for users of Exact Macola. Beyond the simple announcement, this marks another change for Exact because if it has had alliances with third party vendors in this country, it has been a long time since any have been announced. It also is part of a declared best-of-breed strategy for Exact Macola. WiSys was founded by Macola founder, Bruce Hollinger, and the fact that the company mentioned this in a press release also represents a difference approach to doing things.
SAGE REVAMPS PRICING TIERS

Sage North America has re-architected pricing tiers for its midmarket products. The company says that it has dramatically reduced the number of tiers. "We are trying to simplify from a ten-tier structure," says Donald Deshaies, VP of channel management. Many of the tiers are left from the company's purchases of products years ago. He notes there will be a tier remaining that is unique to the construction and real estate applications.

Sage veteran Walter Goodfield has moved to RKL eSolutions after spending slightly more than two years in Infor’s channel program. Goodfield this month took a job as VP of sales and marketing at RKL eSolutions, a Lancaster, Pa.-based reseller that handles the Sage line, including Sage 100, 500 and X3. Goodfield was director, global partner recruiting and on boarding at Infor from February 2012 until he accepted the new position this month and earlier was director of field sales for Sage from May 2009 through June 2011.

While Infor posted a slim bottom line and very slight revenue growth for the third quarter ended February, the company was pleased with results. "One of our challenges is getting noticed and getting invited to deals and that is starting to happen," CEO Charles Phillips said in this week's earnings conference call. He pointed to the impact of the company's ad campaign and noted the number of attendees it had attracted to an analysts' dinner.

Xero, which has moved into the world market from New Zealand, is going to get a competitor for the low-end accounting market. Reckon, which for years was the QuickBooks distributor in Australia, has launched its owned online accounting application, Reckon One. And the company says the cloud package for small businesses " will be available in New Zealand soon." Reckon One is available for free trial and it is positioned as enabling business users to choose and pay for only the parts of the program they need to use."

Dynamics AX reseller mcaConnect of Greenwood Village, Colo., has acquired CRM specialist SalesMetrix of Houston. And there seems to be a trend here since this follows after the announcement earlier this month that Hitachi Consulting, also an AX VAR, had bought CRM firm Customer Effective. Will Moseley, SalesMetrix's president, will become mcaConnect's SVP of sales and marketing, with the entire employee and leadership team moving to the new corporate home.

It's been years since I've attended Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference. And after looking at the course agenda, the company has not come up with reasons to lure me back when the conference is held in Washington D.C. in mid-July There are 58 courses listed online So there's a partner day for the Dynamics crew. But as one top VAR said it's "So thin I am not attending! Don't hold your breath for content on partner day!"
