NETSUITE REVS RISE 34 PERCENT

Zach Nelson, NetSuiteIt's practically a formula—NetSuite's GAAP loss rose and the cloud software company showed strong revenue growth. That was the story as the company this week released results for its first quarter ended March 31. The loss rose to $22.2 million, up from just over $13 million in last year's corresponding period. Revenue reached $123 million in the most recently completed period, a rise of 34 percent from $91.6 million a year earlier. Non-GAAP income rose to $4.4 million, up 58 percent over $2.8 million a year ago.

EPICOR INTRODUCES VERSION 10

Erik Johnson, Epicor Software Epicor Software has unveiled Epicor ERP version 10 at its annual customer conference. The product is already available and the company this week gave a description of the features, along with the names of nine companies already live with the product. Epicor 10 gives users the choice of on-premise, cloud or managed service deployment and comes with a touch-enabled interface.

INFOR SLICES MAINTENANCE MARGINS

 Jeff Abbott, InforInfor will cut margins for maintenance and support, amid what appears to be broad new approach that will have a severe impact on its channel. The change is effective June 1. There are reports that maintenance and support margins, are being cut 50 percent and that the channel was blindsided by a move that will have a severe impact. Also making the rounds is the belief that Infor is going to stretch out payments to its channel.

COLUMBUS AMERICAN RESULTS OFF

Thomas Honore, Columbus A weak pipeline in the United States hurt Columbus in the first quarter ended March 31 and drug down North American results. "We did not close enough deals in Q4 and it impacted us in Q1," CEO Thomas Honoré said during this week's earnings webcast in describing the problems in this country. No other details about the pipeline shortage were discussed. The company reported North American revenue dropped by 15.3 percent for the first quarter ended March 31, while EBIDTA for the continent fell 78 percent from last year's corresponding period.

SOCIUS SIGNS DEEP RIVER

Newell Price, Deep River TechnologiesDynamics reseller Socius has signed Deep River Technologies as a sales affiliate under the Microsoft Master VAR program. Deep River is only the second affiliate announced by one of the three American Master VARs in 2014 and the other was Socius' signing of NorthLake Partners earlier this year. The SBS Group, which has been the most active of the three, has not announced any so far this year and Tribridge, the other Master VAR, has signed only one in the program's more than two years in operation.

FINANCIALFORCE GETS $50 MILLION

Jeremy Roche, FinancialForce.comFinancialForce.com, the company jointly owned by Unit4 and Salesforce.com, has received $50 million in private equity money. The investment comes from funds managed by Advent International, which just acquired Unit4 via a tender offer. FinancialForce is certainly optimistic. Its CEO, Jeremy Roche, issued a statement that said, "The company is on track to transform the ERP market in the same way that Salesforce.com has for CRM."

KEYEDIN RELAUNCHES PLATFORM

Rich Dumelle, KeyedIn SolutionsKeyedIn Solutions, which makes software for project-based businesses, has relaunched its codeless development platform. Formerly known as the KeyedIn Flex Platform, it has been renamed Konfigure, and redefined as the first "Configurable SaaS". According the official statement, "Rather than building applications from scratch, users simply configure their application using drag-and-drop technology based on business logic." KeyedIn claims that applications can be built in less than 10 percent of the time that it can take to develop them from scratch.

APLOS RECEIVES $2 MILLION FUNDING

Aplos softwareAplos Software, which makes cloud-based nonprofit software, has raised $2 million in financing from private investors. The Fresno, Calif.-based company said the proceeds will be used to expand the company's suite and accelerate development of features for its nonprofit accounting and donor management software. Funds will also be used to release an API to integrate with other web-based packages used by churches and nonprofits.

INFOR COLLABORATES WITH RED HAT

Charles Phillips, InforInfor has collaborated with Red Hat and EnterpriseDB to make Infor LN ERP available on "a total open technology stack." Red Hat makes open source solutions and EnterpriseDB markets the PostgreSQL database. Infor CEO Charles Phillips said in a prepared statement the deal means "we can now offer our customers the choice to standardize on best-of-breed open solutions without compromising performance or functionality."

EXACT READIES MACOLA 10, ON-DEMAND

Alison Forsythe, Exact MacolaExact is telling its customer and channel about the planned Macola 10 and about a new sales account coverage model during its Evolution conference this week. Exact is doing a lot new with Macola, including the show, which replaces its previous Engage and Nexus conferences. What it has not done during the two days of Evolution is issue news, except for one press release describing the conference. The conference agenda shows that general manager Alison Forsythe discussed the new sales account coverage in her keynote as well as the direction of Exact Macola.
