APTEAN NAMES NEW CEO

Paul Ilse, ApteanAptean, formed by last year’s merger of Consona and CDC Software, has named Paul Ilse as CEO. Ilse takes over from Monte Ford, who has become Executive Chairman. Ilse was most recently CFO of Atlanta-based Red Prairie Holding, a job he took in January 2007. He joined Red Prairie in 2006 as EVP of mergers and acquisitions.

Bill Burke, Merit SolutionsMerit Solutions, a Dynamics reseller, has launched the AXUG Life Sciences Special Interest Group. Seven Dynamics AX users participated in the inaugural meeting at the Microsoft Convergence conference last month in New Orleans. “Quite a few more have expressed interest in participating going forward,” says Merit CEO Bill Burke.

SERENIC CHAIR NEARLY DOUBLES HOLDINGS

SerenicDwayne Kushniruk, chairman of the Serenic Corp., has nearly doubled his stake in the company after buying stock from another major shareholder. Kushniruk has acquired control of 2,590,833 common shares that had been held by Gordon Buchanan or companies owned by him. Before the transaction, Kushniruk held about 16.9 percent of the outstanding shares.

NETSUITE TO HIRE 1,000 IN 2013

Zach Nelson, NetSuiteNetSuite plans to hire another 1,000 employees this year. And the number released this week by CEO Zach Nelson shows plans for extremely rapid growth to continue. NetSuite had 1,778 employees when it ended 2012 so the hiring would represent a 44-percent increase in the work force if carried out before 2014.

SEC OKAYS SOCIAL MEDIA REPORTING IF ...

Street performers: Like them on Facebook

It was a real signal about the spread of social media that during the Microsoft Convergence conference in New Orleans last month, the street acrobatic group, Dragon Master Showcase, had a sign "Like us on Facebook." That might even be more of a signal about the spread of social media than this week's announcement by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

EXPENSES BITE INTO SILVERSUN NET

Jeff Roth, SWK TechnologiesA sharp increase in operating expenses pushed SilverSun Technologies, parent of reseller SWK Technologies, to a $1.2 million loss for the year ended December 31. That compared to net income of $2.6 million a year earlier. But the revenue side, aided by the purchase of assets of the former Hightower, was bright, rising to $13.2 million, a 25.3-percent increase from $10.5 million for 2011.

SERENIC PICKS UP TWO NAV VARS

SerenicNonprofit software Serenic has added two American resellers to its channel program. The company has signed Integrated Computer Systems and Shepard & Associates. Headquartered in Redmond, Wash., ICS has experience with nonprofits and governmental entities and has been a Dynamics VAR since 1997. Based in Overland Park, Kan., Shepard is said to have 350 customers in the Midwest and has also been a Dynamics reseller since 1997.

WICKHAM: BETTER COMMUNICATION NEEDED

Rich Wickham, MicrosoftMicrosoft needs better communication with its channel, according to Rich Wickham, the new GM of Dynamics partner sales. “We need to do a better job of how we have a conversation with partners,” Wickham said during an interview at Microsoft’s Convergence conference this month. “I think we do not have enough collaborative conversations,” said Wickham, who said that more dialog is necessary because of the many changes the channel has faced recently.

Partner PowerPartner Power, an international consortium of Dynamics resellers, has introduced a transition management consulting program. Poul Kjaer, owner of Partner Power International, said the group is offering the consulting services because of the need to help clients understand how to adapt an ERP application to their needs.
