SAGE GROUP NAMES CMO

Amanda Jobbins, SageThe Sage Group has hired a chief marketing officer, a job that I don't believe has previously existed. And the selection of former Cisco executive Amanda Jobbins for the worldwide role is another step towards the pledge by chief executive Guy Berruyer that the company is going to get more centralized. A native of the United Kingdom, Jobbins is returning home to take the job on November 5.

ACUMATICA ADDED 21 VARS IN 3Q

Acumatica logoAcumatica reports it added 21 new resellers to its channel during the third quarter. There are not a lot of extremely well-known names in the roster. Among the best known are MaxQ Technologies, which had been a Solomon reseller and ISV of note years ago, and Altara, which is a much different company than it was in the prior decade when it was a well-known Dynamics VAR. SWK CLOSES $650K X3 DEAL

SWK Technologies LogoSWK Technologies has closed a more than $650,000 deal for Sage's X3 package. The win was announced by SilverSun Technologies, parent of the Livingston, N.J.-based Sage reseller. The deal was described as involving software and consulting services and the customer was described as a specialty chemical distributor headquartered in the Midwest.

SAGE JOINS CONSTRUCTION GROUP

 Dennis Stejskal, SageSage North America has been accepted as a member of the Construction Open Software Alliance, a new organization dedicated to sharing information between project participants. SAGE VAR SWK TO BUY ISM

Stuart Blumenthal, ISMSWK Technologies, a Livingston, N.J.-based Sage reseller, is making a major move in the channel with the planned purchase of Information Systems Management. SWK said buying Portland, Ore.-based ISM will add more than $6 million in annual revenue to its results. ISM also has offices in San Diego, San Francisco and the Washington D.C. metro area.

SAGE READIES MAJOR NFP CHANGES

Krista Endsley, SageSage is inviting principals of its resellers of its nonprofit software line to a meeting in November called Reboot 2013 for a discussion of major changes. And what Sage announcement these days would be complete without discussing someone who is leaving. In this case, it is Al James, VP of sales, in the Austin, Texas-based NFP office. He is leaving the company next month to pursue another opportunity. I am assuming this is a specific job, as opposed to leaving to pursue other opportunities.

ROSEASP OFFERS ERP TEST DRIVES

Jeff DeMaria, RoseASPRoseASP, a sister company to Dynamics reseller Rose Business Solutions, is launching MyERPCloud. It's a site via which the company will enable users to test drive Dynamics AX, NAV and CRM with preconfigured applications installed. The planned opening is October 31. Besides that, once users register for the site, their information be passed on as leads to registered resellers, says Jeff DeMaria, cloud product marketing manager at the two San Diego, Calif.-based companies.

 Kevin O'Connor, Full Sail PartnersFull Sail Partners, one of two reselling organizations to emerge from the breakup of Acumen Advisors, has been named as a Deltek Premier Partner. That is the top VAR category designation made by Deltek. Full Sail, based in Steamboat Springs, Colo., is owned by Kevin O'Connor who was the owner of the former Innovative Solutions Group.

EDGEWATER EXTENDS STOCK BUYBACK

Edgewater Technology logoEdgewater Technology, which owns the Fullscope reselling business, has extended its stock repurchase program to Sept. 20, 2013. Originally announced in 2008 by the Wakefield, Mass.-based company, the buyback provided for the repurchase of up to $13.5 million in company shares. That will be increased by $2.6 million to $16.1 million under the latest authorization. So far, Edgewater has repurchased about $11.1 million of its shares, leaving about $5 million under the program. Edgewater has three major business lines. Its product-based consulting area includes the activities of Fullscope as a reseller of Microsoft Dynamics AX, along with Oracle EPM activities. It also provides business advisory services and technology advisory services.
