PERVASIVE SOLICITS BUYERS

Pervasive Software logoPervasive Software is seeking bids for the company after getting an unsolicited proposal last month. Austin, Texas-based Pervasive received the proposal from Actian Corp. on August 13 and has instructed its financial advisor, Shea & Co., to seek non-binding bids from interested parties. Actian offered $8.50 per share in cash in a deal that is valued at about $154 million. Actian said that Pervasive had so far repeatedly declined its offer to discuss the proposal.

ACQUISITIONS HIKES K3 REVENUE

k3 logoThe acquisition of other resellers boosted the revenue of the K3 Business Technology Group, a retail specialist based in the United Kingdom by 28 percent for the year ended June 30. Alex Solomon, Net@WorkNew York-based Net@Work and Canada's Plus Computer are leading in the sales of Sage's major CRM products, Sage CRM and SalesLogix through August. The numbers get plugged into the selection of five top VARs and an all around Partner of the Year for Sage's year ending September 30.  It seemed wise to break the CRM sales leaders from the ERP leaders covered in an another news item to avoid a shopping list of names. AVALARA INTEGRATES WITH TAXNOW

Avalara logoAvalara has picked up a new partner for its sales-and-use tax engine with an agreement with Adipietro Technology. That company develops TaxNow for Salesforce and also WordPress e-Commerce applications. According to Adipietro, TaxNow for Salesforce Quotes is suited to companies needing quote-level or opportunity-level sales tax or customer address verification enabled quickly. TaxNow for Salesforce Opportunities is designed for companies that do not have quote functionality enabled in their Salesforce org. The company also says that TaxNow for WP e-Commerce will be available soon as a free download on the WordPress.org plug-in directory.

EPICOR EXPANDS SAAS PRODUCT

Epicor logoEpicor ERP Express Edition has been expanded from its initial target market of smaller manufacturers and distributors to larger organizations. In a prepared statement, market director Chad Meyer said the company is seeing increasing demand for cloud-based products. Express is sold on a subscription basis with the monthly fee covering software, hardware, support, training resources, system maintenance and upgrades.
