Mark Russinovich, MicrosoftMicrosoft has created the Coco Framework, which is designed to advance enterprise adoption of blockchain technology and a sort of user democracy in defining it. It will be introduced next year on GitHub. A technical white paper and demonstration is available.

ABILA'S DRUART JOINS ESO SOLUTIONS

Tad Druart, ESO SolutionsTad Druart, EVP of marketing for Abila, has taken a job with the same title at ESO Solutions. Both companies are based in Austin, Texas. Druart held the position with the nonprofit software company from May 2014 until taking the job with ESO on July 27.

TATARINOV MOVES ON

Kirill TatarinovCatching up on Alumni News: Kirill Tatarinov has moved on from his role as CEO of Citrix, where he served from January 2016 until last month. Tatarinov, of course, headed the former Microsoft Business Solutions from July 2007 through October 2015. The news accounts of his departure said it was abrupt.

JOB OPS PARENT ACQUIRED

Joe Bisaha, Scanco Scanco Software, based in Sarasota, Fla., has acquired Synergistic Software, which develops Sage Manufacturing/JobOps Modules for Sage100 and Sage100c. Terms were not announced. Joe Bisaha, Scanco's director of manufacturing, will head the company's Sage Manufacturing/JobOps Division.

SWK VP HAHN GOES TO CPA FIRM

Matthew Hahn, SWK TechnologiesMatthew Hahn, who has been with SWK Technologies since 2003, has become chief technology officer of Clifton, N.J.-based CPA firm Sax. Hahn most recently served the Livingston, N.J.-based reseller as VP of network services. There have been a few changes in the VP level in the last year.

NEW SAP SMB EXECS IN NORTH AMERICA

Eric Friedrichsen, SAPSAP has installed new leadership for its North American SMB segment and channel operations. The Newtown Square, Pa.-based SAP unit said Eric Friedrichsen has taken over as head of the SMB and channel segment and Marc Monday as leader of the channel ecosystem on this continent.

BLACKBAUD REPORTS GOOD QUARTER

Mike Gianoni, Blackbaud Nonprofit software vendor Blackbaud turned in a good performance for the second quarter ended June 30. The Charleston, S.C.-based company said net income rose to $11.2 million in the most recently ended period, an increase of 23.2 percent over $9.1 million a year earlier.

microsoftMicrosoft has presented a series of regional SMB awards.  I have found these via Google from press releases put out by the winners. They included regional partners of the year and rising stars for each region, given by Microsoft's U.S. Small and Mid-sized Business (SMB) Group and according to winner press releases were presented in six categories.

ALERE V12 PREVIEWED

Rod Hatcher, TIW TechnologyTIW Technology. has issued a preview of Alere Business Applications v.12. In its newsletter, the software company also noted it is hiking the price of renewing expired maintenance agreements. Alere v11 launched in March and the newsletter did not give a date for the new edition.

VIEWPOINT TO BUY DEXTER + CHANEY

Manolis Kotzabasakis, Viewpoint Viewpoint is purchasing Dexter + Chaney, bringing together two veteran construction software companies. Terms were not disclosed. Viewpoint products include Vista, a cloud-based suite for contractors that feature accounting, HR and project management, and ProContractor, estimating, project management, and accounting software, available in both on-premise and cloud versions.
