SUGARCRM GETS SAP REFUGEES

SugarCRM, which markets open source CRM applications, has signed two channel managers who left the SAP Business ByDesign team in August. SugarCRM has hired Geoff Ashley as VP of partner enablement  and Dawn Jaeger as director of channel development.

MACONOMY HEADING FOR CHANNEL

Deltek is considering how it can put Maconomy, the project accounting application that it acquired, into the channel. While Maconomy is sold through a channel in Europe, only direct sale have been used in the United States. A spokesman noted that "it is a strategic initiative for Deltek to educate and empower our partners to sell Deltek Maconomy as well as Deltek People Planner." He said Deltek is working with multiple channel members to help them market and sell Maconomy. However, the company is not ready to release details.

AKTION SETS UP CONSTRUCTION UNIT

Aktion Associates, a reseller based in Maumee, Ohio, has set up a Project Execution team.  The group was established to offer services and products  in the areas of estimating, collaborative project management, mobile solutions, and data analytics. Products are being offered in the area of estimating software, project management, along with estimating database design and maintenance, mobile application development and integration; and business intelligence and data analytics.

UNIT4 NORTH AMERICA REVS UP

Unit4Revenue for Unit4, which markets the Coda Financials and Agresso ERP  lines, rose by more than 13 percent for the first half ended June 30. That was at the same level as the increase in revenue as the company overall, with net income for Unit4 up 49 percent for the six months. Net income for the most recently ended period was about $29.4 million. Revenue rose to $321.3 million. The percentages are calculated in the change of results in the amounts in euros. License sales were up 22 percent, but subscription revenue rose by 53 percent. Read more...

DELTEK OFFERS A/E/C FED INFO

Deltek has established an information service for organizations that bid on federal architecture, engineering and construction-related contract projects. The  Federal Intelligence Solutions for A/E/C firms that delivers detailed information on planned projects. A Deltek report,  “Federal Architecture & Engineering Market Outlook, 2011-2016”, predicts that the demand for A/E services by the U.S. government will increase to $9.5 billion in 2016, up from $8.1 billion in 2011.

DELTEK GOT GEM IN PEOPLE PLANNER?

Drew WestWhile the focus at Deltek during the last year has been on its very successful Maconomy acquisition, the Reston, Va.-based company got a product few have heard of. At least, Deltek hasn’t talked much about People Planner. But the enthusiasm that surrounded this product in a recent discussion I had with a Deltek VAR was obvious. And Deltek has high hopes for this product that is being sold both direct and through the channel.

SAP NAMES CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER

SAP has named Jonathan Belcher as chief marketing officer. Belcher was CEO of Pilot Software before its purchase by the German software giant. And perhaps the most pertinent point in his background at the new GAP is that Belcher served as marketing EVP “focused on streamlining field, solution, and partner marketing.” There’s that word “partner” again and SAP has not strayed from its message that its growth will come from the channel.

SBS PICKS UP ATLANTA VAR

The SBS Group, which is one of my picks for Microsoft’s upcoming Master VAR program, kept on growing this week with the acquisition of Enterprise Solution Consultants. The Atlanta operation sells Dynamics GP and reportedly has more than 100 implementations over the last 12 years. Bob O’Brien, who was a principle at ESC, has become managing director of the unit that is now called SBS Atlanta.

ACUMATICA 2.2 RELEASED

Acumatica logoAcumatica has released version 2.2 of its cloud-based application, which the company says incorporates changes and updates to the financial, distribution, and customer management modules. Changes also involved expanding the products reach in the wholesale distribution, manufacturing, retail, and service industry verticals.
