SAGE’S HOUILLON MAKING ROUNDS

Pascal Houillon, the CEO designate of Sage North America, has been meeting with resellers but has not yet not with the press regarding his new role.  That’s changing next month as Sage is lining up interviews for April 29. I have to wonder if something else is scheduled to happen then. When it was announced in December that Sue Swenson would retire from the position, Sage said that Houillon would take over “mid 2011”.

The way this is being handled, with Houillon making press appointments most of that day, it sounds like there’s possible news, although I suppose this is the only fair way to give everyone a chance to have introductions the same day. Still, I have to wonder if that’s the changeover day. I haven’t tried to interview a significant number of VARs about their impression of the new exec who is generally being called “the other Pascal” in comparison to Pascal Van Dooren since non-French speakers can’t pronounce his last name. The American approach will be as authentic as the way most people pronounce the name of the chain “Au Bon Pain” (Oh Bone Pane). For those outside the Sage world, Van Dooren’s title is vice president of sales, North America - Sage Business Solutions.
