Sage has added Visual Process Flows to its Sage 500 product to visually show steps to be taken in processes. The new feature also includes links to tasks involved. The company also said that Cash Flow Management now processes cash receipts more efficiently and accurately with new import and tracking capabilities.
In looking for more depth on features, it was notable that the Visual Process Flows, which were highly featured in the press release, were way down the list of enhancements on the Sage North America website and got little more in the way of explanation. The enhancements discussed first on the website were with the ability to import pending cash receipts, track miscellaneous cash receipts and hard close sub-ledgers. The 2013 version also has options for locking down postings to sub-ledgers individually in preparation for period end closing. In any event, also added was Sage 500 Shipping by SmartLinc, a web-based multicarrier shipping application. Anyway, given the company’s payments push, no one should be surprised at the mention of the Sage Exchange Portal’s ability to view payment information on the web through desktop or tablet computers. The new version also features the cloud-based Sage Exchange Vault, for storing cardholder data.
