DELTEK GIVES VARS BIGGER TARGET MARKET

Deltek has reportedly increased the size of deals that its still relatively-new VAR channel can go after. Although the company would not confirm the numbers yesterday, it was reported by resellers that the cap of 100-seat sales has been raised to give them the chance to go after 300-seat deals, although only in the professional services market.
In any event, one reseller said VARs still end up competing with the Deltek sales force with a customer base that's accustomed to calling Deltek, not the local dealer. A spokesman gave the following description of the changes, although he said he could not provide details: "I can tell you that we are doing all we can to enable the channel and give them more opportunities than ever to sell our software. As such, we are loosening some of our channel requirements in an effort to empower our channel partners as much as possible." Earlier this year, Deltek trimmed its channel by 10 to 15 percent.
