SAGE GROUP NAMES CMO

Amanda Jobbins, SageThe Sage Group has hired a chief marketing officer, a job that I don't believe has previously existed. And the selection of former Cisco executive Amanda Jobbins for the worldwide role is another step towards the pledge by chief executive Guy Berruyer that the company is going to get more centralized. A native of the United Kingdom, Jobbins is returning home to take the job on November 5.

Jobbins had been Cisco's VP of technology and corporate marketing for Europe. In July 2011, she moved up to the position of global VP of services marketing and communications. She also worked for 25 years at HP. Dobbins becomes a member of the Sage Group's executive committee, reporting to Berruyer. When Jobbins announced in August her intention to leave Cisco she was reported as citing a desire to return to her homeland and family reasons. One sign of how the distribution of power has shifted is that when Ron Verni was CEO of Sage North America, he was a member of the executive committee; the current North American head, Pascal Houillon, is not. So the evolution has been from one of influence to a position in which the geography that produced almost 30 percent of revenue for the half ended March 31 does not have direct representation at the table. Of course, the percentage used to be a lot higher.
