Early this month, Arxis Technology, a Sage reseller based in Simi Valley, Calif., made Mark Severance, director of sales and marketing, a principal in the firm. For Severance, who joined the company in mid-2000, it was not just a matter of personal advancement. It was part of a process by principals David Cieslak and Bob Gaby to develop leadership from its ranks. And it’s something that a lot of VARs don’t do, even if they have resources to mount such a program.

Vision33, a reseller based in Irvine, Calif., was named SAP Business One Partner of the Year, USA, at the SAP Channel Partner Summit in Savannah, Ga., at the beginning of the month. Yes, this is catching up with old news, but at one point, having another SAP announcement would have overloaded a couple of newsletters. Vision33 has emerged as one of the largest U.S. B1 resellers by acquiring other VARs, including Omega Business Systems in 2009.

Deltek squeezed out two veteran VPs this week to make way for a reorganization to better meld two acquired businesses, Maconomy and Input, into the company. EVPs Richard Lowrey and Carolyn Parent both resigned jobs that they had held just over a year. They are departing on April 1. At the same time, Hugo Dorph, former Maconomy CEO, is being brought to the United States for two years in the new role of EVP GM for architecture and engineering and professional services. Deltek also named Catherine Morales as EVP and GM of Input, according to SEC documents.

Infor and its backer Golden Gate Capital have made an unsolicited offer to acquire Lawson Software at a price of $11.25 per share cash. Lawson has retained Barclays Capital as its financial advisor to evaluate the proposal and another alternatives. Based on the number of shares outstanding at the end of the third quarter on November 30, that’s about $1.8 billion.

Relocation packages for executives are always interesting. Given the way Steve Elop, former president of the Microsoft Business Division soaked Microsoft for $6.5 million to pay for his house when he left after two years with the company, what Hugo Dorph got from Herndon, Va.-based Deltek is certainly modest. EDGEWATER CFO GETS 25-PERCENT HIKE

Edgewater Technology, which owns Dynamics reseller Fullscope, has handed out a 25-percent raise in base salary to its chief financial officer. CFO Timothy R. Oakes pay for this year is $250,000, up from $200,000 in 2010. That represents a bigger portion of compensation than at bigger companies since Fullscope doesn’t have as much to hand out in equity awards. Its last trade yesterday was $2.86 per share. Also most of the company’s named executives received no bonuses in 2008 and 2009. Oakes became CFO in 2009.

FinancialForce.com has launched FinancialForce SRP, a Services Resource Planning product. It combines Salesforce CRM, with professional services automation and accounting. The 526-word press release may set a record for buzzwords and puffery and other than being built on the Force.com platform, it seems to do a lot of the things you’d expect from the applications. Deltek has trotted out Deltek Connect for Microsoft Outlook which is now compatible with Outlook 2010. Connect integrates the Microsoft application with Deltek’s Vision, Costpoint and GovWin CRM. Connect was developed in partnership with InvisibleCRM, which writes a variety of integration tools for Outlook and Windows.
