NEW SAGE LIVE, ONE EDITIONS

Jennifer Warawa, Sage Sage has introduced Sage Live for Accountants and Sage One Partner Edition. As with a lot of Sage product press releases, this one is long on the wonderful virtues of the products, but could be better on spelling out additional functions they have from other editions of these applications. There is more information about the Sage One Partner Edition, which is designed for accountants servicing sole-traders, entrepreneurs and micro-businesses. It is designed for onboarding clients and managing their billing and collaborating with clients by being able to view client data.

AKA TAKES OVER GREEN BEACON

Benjamin Holtz, Green Beacon AKA Enterprise Solutions, which sells Dynamics AX and GP, has taken over Green Beacon, which markets Dynamics CRM. AKA, based in New York, has $20 million in revenue for 75 employees, according to its submission for Bob Scott's Top 100 VARs. In 2015, it ranked No 33 on the Top 100 list. Based in Newton, Mass., Green Beacon will operate as AKA Green Beacon. The two companies were already working together.

SUMMIT SIGNUPS BOOMING

With Microsoft abandoning Convergence, the conference landscape has shifted for users seeking content aimed at them. "We are so far ahead of where we usually are," says Andy Hafer, executive director of Dynamics Communities. The organization's events, AXUG Summit, CRMUG Summit, GPUG Summit and NAVUG Summit, are being held in Tampa, Fla., from October 11 through 14.

AVALARA HAS FIRST CONFERENCE

Scott McFarlane, AvalaraThe fact that Avalara introduced its CertCapture Mobile Scan App this week was probably not the company's most interesting news this week. The greater interest for most lies with its first-ever user conference, Crush 2016, held this week on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. the sales-and-use-tax company, which likes to party in a big way, led many of the 250 conference attendees who showed up behind a Dixieland band down Bourbon Street to the different restaurants where food was offered on consecutive nights of the show.

AX CLOUD-FIRST CAUSES PROBLEMS

Shirley Singleton, Edgewater TechnologyMicrosoft decided to release a cloud version of Dynamics AX7 first, with a desktop version to arrive later. But this decision is causing problems for resellers who find it presents problems for clients who may not be ready to jump to the Internet. The issue was spelled out when Edgewater Technology, which owns the Fullscope reselling operation, addressed the subject during an earnings webcast. CEO Shirley Singleton said the "cloud offering will cause a little bit of noise in the quarter."

SAGE STRIKES NEW HCM DEAL


sageSage has expanded its alliance with Fairsail, whose Human Capital Management Cloud system is built on the Salesforce1 platform. Under the new deal, Fairsail becomes the cloud HCM platform of choice for Sage X3. Sage X3 and Fairsail products will work together to provide companies with processes to manage financials, supply chain, payroll, workforce and talent management, all in the cloud.

INTACCT GETS $40M DEBT FINANCING

 Robert Reid, Intacct Cloud software vendor Intacct has secured $40 million in financing through a new debt facility from Silicon Valley Bank. "When you are looking at long-term growth, you always have to watch the market and sometimes you take in money before you actually need it to ensure you have the flexibility to take advantage of new opportunities when they arise," CEO Robert Reid said in a prepared statement.

SAGE 50 BEHIND FIRST HALF GROWTH

Stephen Kelly, SageCloud versions of Sage 50, which is really different products in different companies, drove revenue growth for Sage's first half ended March 31. And subscriptions continued to rise as license revenue fell—the latter off 9 percent in the United States. Overall, executives were in a good mood about results. In this week's earnings webcast, CEO Stephen Kelly said the company achieved "double-digit recurring revenue growth for the first time this decade."

Grant Fraser, Navigator Business SolutionsThe Alerion Capital Group has made what was described as a major investment in Navigator Business Solutions. Navigator, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, is an SAP reseller and has been SAP Cloud Partner of the Year every year since 2009. "The investment by Alerion will help us advance and accelerate our highly regarded cloud first methodology to a broader reach," CEO Grant Fraser said in a prepared statement.

BOOMER CONSULTING CHANGES BOOMERS

L. Gary Boomer , Boomer Consulting Boomer Consulting has named Jim Boomer as CEO to succeed his father and founder, L. Gary Boomer. The Manhattan, Kan.-based firm also selected Sandra Wiley as president, Dustin Hostetler as chief innovation officer, and L. Gary Boomer as visionary and strategist. "This shift in leadership represents the roles each of our leaders have played over the last several years and will allow Boomer Consulting to better focus on strategic growth," L. Gary Boomer, said in a prepared statement.
