MALWARE FOLLIES

JZip logoRed flags should go up before anyone downloads freeware. NETWORKEDHELPDESK.ORG FORMED

Here’s hoping this works: a group of vendors have formed NetworkedHelpDesk.org, an initiative designed to promote connection of disparate systems such as project management customer relationship management and customer support. The alliance has developed an API that it says “makes it easier to deliver an ecosystem of products that can cooperate around tickets, business processes and organizational workflows.” Among the companies hitting this market that are participating are SugarCRM, Pervasive and Freshbooks. SAGE TAKING ADVISOR GLOBAL

One of the more interesting items in the Sage MAS roadmap is Sage Advisor, which essentially pushes help at the user.  It was invented by the Peachtree folks, who won a Sage award for their contribution, and is going to be brought into all of Sage’s financial applications. This isn’t all happening tomorrow as Advisor is on the MAS 90 and 200 road map for 2013. Read more...

INTACCT RAISES $12.3 MILLION

Intacct logoCloud vendor Intacct has raised another $12.3 million in venture capital funding in a round raised by Split Rock Partners. Existing investors, including Bessemer Venture Partners, Emergence Capital, Sigma Partners and Sutter Hill Ventures participated in the round. The company says the capital is intended to fund aggressive hiring and accelerate its growth rate. Intacct has been steadily announcing the signing of new resellers and says that VAR channel sales showed a tenfold increase in its third quarter. Among Intacct’s recent reseller signings are SouthTech Solutions of Sarasota, Fla., Maner Costerisan of Lansing, Mich., and Raffa of Washington D.C.

VERSATA BEATS SAP FOR $345M

Must be something in the air in the last year with companies and suits against SAP.  SAP was ordered to pay Oracle $1.3 billion in December because its former subsidiary, TomorrowNow, had illegally downloaded Oracle software. And now, Versata, which is an aggregator of technology companies, has been awarded $345 million in a patent infringement suit against SAP North America and its German parent. The plaintiffs were Austin, Texas-based Versata Software, and Versata Development Group. Versata originally was awarded $138.6 million in a verdict in August 2009. Read more...

ALFAPEOPLE PARTNERS WITH KEYORA

Alfapeople, a Dynamics AX reseller, has allied with ISV Keyora which markets e-business applications that integrate with AX. AlfaPeople, which specializes in the retail business, said the partnership integrates retail stores, center catalog ordering and eCommerce in one system base on AX for Retail and Keyora Webfoot E-Business.

COUGAR READIES DENALI 3.1

Cougar logoCougar Mountain Software plans to release version 3.1 of its Denali Business Accounting line next week. Updates include a new budget management tool, a new 1099-type field on AP Enter Bills Edit Report and added flexibility for adjusting account segments. Also new is a user-defined classification code for specialized reporting needs and added account filtering ability to the spreadsheet export, along with a modified allocation codes window. SAP CLASS ACTION SETTLED

And the winner is …. The lawyers. That’s the way I read SAP’s announcement of the terms of the preliminary settlement of a class action suit over its purchase of Sybase last year. That purchase drew the typical litany of plaintiffs claiming the purchaser underpaid and that the disclosures about the process were inadequate. The only money scheduled to change hands is the $1,075,000 million in fees and expenses for the plaintiff’s attorneys. Read more...

NETSUITE RELEASES DEMAND PLANNING

NetSuite has released NetSuite Demand Planning which it says enables companies to forecast peaks and troughs in demand. Businesses can use sales forecasts to build an inventory plan and augment a plan with special predictions, such as marketing input on new product launches. Projections can be automatically delivered to upstream providers. The systems is billed as providing the ability to automatically build inventory forecasts from real-time data and to automate inventory replenishment plan and creating the necessary purchase orders and work orders to meet anticipated demand.

INTUIT INTROS PARTNER PLATFORM

Intuit logoIntuit has introduced Intuit Anywhere, which enables developers to build QuickBooks data integration into web and mobile applications. Utilizing the Intuit Partner Platform, Intuit Anywhere offers a set of widgets and data services for connecting applications to QuickBooks. A widget can be incorporated directly into an applications workflow providing for a secure, authenticated connection to a user's QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online data using one Intuit ID. Developers can utilize this system to prepopulate applications QuickBooks data.
