OPEN SYSTEMS PITCHING TO RESELLERS

Open Systems logoThe last edition of this newsletter referred to the new Open Systems channel program. It turns out that there aren’t a lot of changes to the program itself. But what has sparked the company to make more noise is the attraction of the .Net architecture of its Traverse software. “We’ve tweaked some minor things. What’s new is that people are interested in working with us because of that technology,” said Linda Shillingburg, whose promotion to vice president of channel development had been announced at the same time.

RIP: BILL AND JIM’S SAP BLOG

Bill McDermottA few months ago I applauded the blog on the SAP website from co-CEOs Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann-Snabe. It was under the moniker “Bill and Jim’s Newsroom.” At the time, I wrote that “Corporate blogs are a tricky thing. Many executives who start them lack the time to post enough entries to keep them interesting. Can these guys pull it off?” Well, apparently not. Thinking I might have missed something on the SAP site, I held off on the eulogy. Read more...

SAGE'S VP JOHNSON GOES TO INTUIT

Paul JohnsonIt is clear that sales VP Paul Johnson left Sage North America this month because of an opportunity at Intuit. Johnson is joining Intuit where he will head sales and marketing for Intuit Financial Services, which markets products through financial institutions, starting next month. Still, that left Sage with another change in the executive ranks in its biggest market. Read more...

THE DYNAMICS OF RESELLER MARKETING

This is about dynamics with a small first letter and it affects more than just the Microsoft Dynamics line. But the discussion here is primarily about the Microsoft and Sage channels and its more about Microsoft.  Both companies have channels that are too large. However, Microsoft is the one with the most severe target for reducing the number of dealers. (Although there’s serious talk that Microsoft has backed off deadlines for making cuts, despite its denial that the company has done so.) Read more...

SKYYTEK: WE’VE SOLD BBD

Skyttek, the cloud reseller specialist, has posted a notice on its website to inform skeptics (with NetSuite heavily in that camp) that it’s been selling SAP’s Business By Design, the long-awaited SaaS application. But a conversation with Skyytek owner Ray Tetlow indicates why there have been skeptics. Without revealing numbers, he said that Skyytek has sold “quite a few” installations of the Internet-based product. But it only started selling BBD after December 1. Read more...

ACUMATICA NABS RESELLERS

Online vendor Acumatica named two new resellers this week. And while competitor Intacct continues to name VARs that it says are leaders in the industry, I’d have to give the edge to Acumatica for picking up quality dealers. This week, the Rockville, Md.-based company said it had signed Madison, Wis.-based SVA Consulting and NexVue information Systems, based in Stamford, Conn. NexVue was founded by Dan Schwartz and Schwartz one year was one of two American Dynamics resellers invited to a worldwide confab in Barcelona of top VARs. Read more...
