POS specialist Radiant Systems, whose offerings include the CounterPoint line, continued on a tear as its third quarter ended September 30 resulted in net income more than double last year while revenue rose by 26 percent over the third quarter a year earlier.  Earnings reached $7.5 million, compared to $3.4 million a year earlier with operating income having risen by 35 percent. Fueled by its purchase of Maconomy, Deltek had a strong September quarter in Europe and the United States. But I’m not sure there's much opportunity for resellers. Revenue rose to $65.2 million for the third quarter ended September 30, up 1.7 percent from $64.1 million a year ago. Deltek lost $4.2 million, compared to earnings of $6.6 million a year earlier. The words "cautiously optimistic" came out of the September quarter earnings reports a lot. But the other phrase that popped up several time was "raising our guidance" as many companies exceeded their expectations for the period just ended.  No one is declaring that the economy is moving into a strong new up cycle.
