NETSUITE NAMES PRODUCT VP

An Intuit product guy has become a NetSuite product guy as the manufacturer of online applications named Gary Wiessinger, VP of product management. Wiessinger was mostly recently director of product management for Intuit's mid-market group and spent four years with that product line, which includes QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions and the Intuit Enterprise Suite. The official NetSuite announcement that he led product teams whose output included four SaaS offerings and that he was senior product manager for the QuickBooks Contractor Edition. The main thing this got me thinking was how quiet Intuit has been about its mid-market line for the last few months. Read more...

SERENIC REPORTS STRONG Q3

Serenic logoNonprofit vendor Serenic turned in a good third quarter for the period ended November 30, as it reported net income of $154,064 compared to a year-earlier loss of $385,817 on a 13.6 percent increase in revenue. All figures are in Canadian dollars. The results pushed nine-month revenue to $8.3 million, a 24.7 percent increase over $6.7 million a year earlier. Read more...

SPEEDTAX NABS SAGE VET LAHEY

David LaheyDavid Lahey, who spent four years in management roles at Sage North America, has joined sales-and-use tax vendor SpeedTax as EVP of sales and marketing.  Lahey says that one of his roles will be to apply his experience with large implementations to similar size deals at SpeedTax while working with his new employer’s reseller channel. GEFFEL GONE AS SAGE TIMBERLINE GM

Long-time Timberline executive John Geffel has left Sage North America within the last week. Geffel joined Timberline in 1983 when it was an independent, publicly held company. He became SVP marketing in December 1999 and joined Sage when it acquired Timberline in 2004. Geffel had been general manager of the CRE division (construction, real estate) that markets Timberline's construction applications for Sage. Jodi Uecker-Rust, president of Sage Business Solutions,  is handling the duties until a new GM is hired.

MICROSOFT AND INTUIT JOIN HANDS IN THE CLOUDS

Microsoft and Intuit have agreed to integrate capabilities of Microsoft's Windows Azure and Intuit's Partner Platform so that developers can write more apps in the clouds. This announcement is aimed at small business, and it shows the push Microsoft is making for Azure, which is something of an operating environment for SaaS applications. Read more...
