HIGHJUMP BUYS ATLAS PRODUCTS

On heels of the purchase of HighJump Software by Accellos, the surviving company, now called HighJump, has bought United Kingdom-based-Atlas Products International. Atlas markets EDI and e-invoicing products. The U.K. company’s system is built on the Atlas Exchange, a secure document exchange that provides what is described as a “connect-once, access-all” network for retailers, manufacturers, suppliers and logistics service providers. Terms were not disclosed.
SAP STARTS SMB GROUP

SAP has started the SMB Solutions Group, a division focused on businesses with up to 500 employees. Headed by Dean Mansfield, the group is charged with driving SAP applications based on the company's Hana in-memory database technology into the SMB market. Mansfield also has responsibility for SAP Business One with that line remaining in the Global Partner Operations organization. He plans to accelerate the adoption of a B1 version of Hana and the cloud version of B1.

The award for Dynamics Reseller of the Year for the United States this year went to mcaConnect of Greenwood Village, Colo. The award was announced as Microsoft handed out honors to country winners at the Worldwide Partner Conference that was held this week. Headed by Claude Watson, mcaConnect also won the Dynamics Industry Award, publicized earlier this year. The vendor also unveiled the selection of its Inner Circle for 2014. Accounting firms did well this year with Armanino, BDO Canada, McGladrey and Sikich making the cut.

Baker Tilly has received Deltek’s first-ever Partner of the Year award give to one that software company’s GovCon Consulting Partners. In the official words of Reston, Va.-based Deltek, "Baker Tilly was recognized for its positive impact to Deltek’s business and its customers, as well as strong collaboration with Deltek sales and services team." Based in Chicago, Ill., Baker Tilly also was one of four Premier Partners for 2014 in the GovCon area.

Dynamics Master VAR Socius has launched the Socius Partner Services ISV Program for its Sales Affiliates. The program enables affiliates to offer ISV products to their customers as well as being able to access to additional sales and technical resources. Plex, which makes on-line manufacturing applications, has named Tina Holm as vice president of partners and alliances. Holm is responsible for building and managing the Plex Partner Network. That network includes consulting firms that are involved in implementation and which Plex termed “customer-success-oriented.” This is a new position for the Troy, Mich.-based cloud company. Plex comes from Oracle where she had positions dealing with the channel and alliances starting in February 2003.

Net@Work, a Sage reseller based in New York City, has acquired Software Solutions, a Richmond-based VAR that carries Sage 100, 500 and CRM. Software Solutions serves businesses in Virginia and Maryland. The recent deal follows Net@Work’s purchase of the acquired company’s HRMS practice in 2010. Net@Work says the deal shows the success of its Partner Alliance program, in which other Sage VARs can turn part of their business over to Net@work and later make a full exit.

Nonprofit software vendor Blackbaud has hired two executives who have the responsibility of “driving customer satisfaction through operational excellence and quality improvement.” Writing about what the Charleston, S.C.-based vendor describes as a new function gets puffy quickly. The best tactic is simply to say that Steve Halleck has become VP of business operations, and Steve Hodlin, director of operational excellence. Halleck was mostly recently SVP of group operations for the Financial Institutions Group at Fiserv.

Logicbroker has allied with Exact to provide EDI capabilities for Exact Online. Via the deal, the partners will be able to offer an integrated EDI system to users of the online product and includes the ability for Exact Online customers to take advantage drop ship automation and an integrated, supply chain system. Logicbroker provides a Magento Connector for Exact Online so that eCommerce orders flow from Magento to Exact, along with exchange inventory and catalog information.

The American Institute of CPAs will not release a list of Top Technologies for 2014. Although a survey was taken, the results were not what was wanted. The official word from the AICPA’s Information Management and Technology Assurance Section is the following: "A technical issue with the 2014 Top Technology Initiatives Survey resulted in a much lower response rate from U.S. public accounting firms than in previous years, and may have affected the reliability of overall rankings.” So, it was decided not to release the results.
