EDGEWATER CFO GETS 25-PERCENT HIKE

Edgewater Technology, which owns Dynamics reseller Fullscope, has handed out a 25-percent raise in base salary to its chief financial officer. CFO Timothy R. Oakes pay for this year is $250,000, up from $200,000 in 2010. That represents a bigger portion of compensation than at bigger companies since Fullscope doesn’t have as much to hand out in equity awards. Its last trade yesterday was $2.86 per share. Also most of the company’s named executives received no bonuses in 2008 and 2009. Oakes became CFO in 2009.

FINANCIALFORCE HITS PRO SERVICES

FinancialForce.com has launched FinancialForce SRP, a Services Resource Planning product. It combines Salesforce CRM, with professional services automation and accounting. The 526-word press release may set a record for buzzwords and puffery and other than being built on the Force.com platform, it seems to do a lot of the things you’d expect from the applications. DELTEK CONNECT ENHANCED

Deltek has trotted out Deltek Connect for Microsoft Outlook which is now compatible with Outlook 2010. Connect integrates the Microsoft application with Deltek’s Vision, Costpoint and GovWin CRM. Connect was developed in partnership with InvisibleCRM, which writes a variety of integration tools for Outlook and Windows.

WHITHER EVEREST SOFTWARE?

Everest Software, which has made various runs at the mid-market with its ERP line, hasn’t said much since it was acquired by Versata in August 2010. Versata has acquired a stream of technology companies, most not in the financial software arena, and let them continue under their own names. Now Everest has a redesigned site which calls the operation “A Cloud 9 company.” The new website (new since I visited it about two weeks ago) is lacking in contact information. There’s no telephone number or office location and the section labeled “Store” isn’t a webstore in the sense that anything is being sold. Read more...

INFOR HIRING 400 DEVELOPERS

Infor is doing more than just buying companies. This week it announced it plans to hire about 400 software developers to expand its engineering organization. The privately held company attributed the investment to great third quarter results, which it said included 17-percent license growth and cash operating margins of 24 percent. It also added 400 net new customers during the quarter. Recruitment was to begin immediately with the expansion expected to be completed by year’s end. Additional development efforts are being made in all product areas.

SHIFT TO CLOUD DENTS CDC RESULTS

CDC Software, which owns the Ross and Pivotal product lines, reported a sharp drop in net income for the year ended December 31 as revenue rose by 4.4 percent over 2009 totals.  Net income for 2010 was $6.4 million, down from $22.3 million the prior year. Revenue for the most recently ended year was $212.9 million, an increase from $203.9 million for 2009. The bottom line was held down by a restructuring charge of just under $5 million. Read more...

EPICOR STARTS EPICOR U

Epicor Software has launched Epicor University, which it described as new center of excellence for education for customers, partners and employees. The initiative will provide end-user training through a variety of means, including user guides, classroom courses and certifications, along with an online help system. There are also more than 100 embedded courses associated with Epicor 9.

SYSPRO LINKS WITH AVALARA

Syspro has become the latest accounting software vendor to hook up with sales-and-use tax publisher Avalara. The company will offer AvaTax for Syspro, which provides the engine to keep up with the changes in taxes, along with the calculations of the required levies.

DELTEK LOSES TWO TOP VPS

Carolyn ParentIn two sentences in an SEC document, Deltek, which markets project accounting software, announced yesterday the departure of two of its top executives. It said that on April 1, Richard Lowrey would cease to serve as EVP of Deltek Engineering, and Carolyn Parent would no longer be EVP and general manager of its GovCon operations. That changes a reorganization that had produced the new positions barely a year ago.
