INTUIT OUTLINES COST OF ONLINE

Intuit last month discussed the cost of QuickBooks Online versus the price to buy and renew the desktop product.  And the formula should work the same for higher-priced packages sold via subscription. It costs more to lease than buy. Kiran Patel, SVP of Intuit’s Small Business Group, said that over five years a QuickBooks Online customer would pay $1,500, based on the $25 per month subscription price. Read more...

NETSUITE PICKS TURF OVER SURF

NetSuite, which has pumped a lot of money into Oakland Athletics sponsorships, put even more money into that effort in 2010.  The Athletics relationship goes back to July 2004 and the investment has picked up considerably. Starting in 2008, NetSuite agreed to pay the Athletics $429,000 over three years. In April 2009, NetSuite agreed to toss in $50,000 per year through 2011 for additional in-stadium signage and in December 2009, adding $157,000 per year for three years starting in January 2010. FULLSCOPE BOOSTS EDGEWATER

With sales of Dynamics AX from Fullscope kicking in for a full year, Edgewater Technology, rebounded to a profit and turned in a 107-percent increase in revenue for the fourth quarter ended December 31. Net income of $675,000 compared to a loss of $1.86 million in last year’s corresponding quarter while revenue rose to $23.5 million, up from $11.4 million a year earlier.

SWK DOES $700K X3 DEAL

If anyone wonders why Sage is making so much noise about its ERP X3 software, a deal announced by Trey Resources shows why  And this week, the company said Trey closed a deal for software and consulting services valued at more than $700,000 to a multi-national manufacturer headquartered in the Midwest. The company also said that in less than a year it has recouped the investment made to train its personnel. Read more...

NETSUITE SIGNS TWO-TIER DEAL

NetSuite has signed Informatica to integrate its NetSuite Cloud with Tier 1 applications such as SAP and Oracle. It’s part of an emerging two-tier ERP approach in major corporations as explained this week by NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson at the Morgan Stanley Technology Media & Telecom Conference in San Francisco. Informatica integrates financials from the NetSuite product at the departmental or divisional level with data from the enterprise application. Read more...

ROSE TWITTER FANS TOP 20K

Linda RoseRose Business Solutions, a Dynamics VAR headquartered in San Diego, is pretty serious about Twitter – it topped 20,000 followers in January and now has 22,906 followers. “We have a process down and it works. About 11 percent of the traffic on our sites comes from Twitter. For myGPcloud this has equated to customer adds.

SAGE BUYS MERCHANT PORTFOLIO

Sage Payment Solutions has acquired what it described as a “small portfolio of merchant customers processing on third-party platforms from Heartland Payment Systems.” The acquisition was the fifth of its type in the last 12 months. There was no definition of what “small” meant in terms of the number of customers or the type of customers and terms were not disclosed. However, the announcement said the unit is focusing on “strategic growth through acquisitions of targeted portfolios.”

FISHBOWL PUSHING UP MARKET?

Fishbowl Inventory is positioning the company’s inventory control application in what looks like a conscious effort to push a bit up-market suggesting that it is being pulled up market by its users.  Noting its product’s widespread use with QuickBooks, the company this week issued a press release stating “But many people don’t realize Fishbowl Inventory is growing in popularity as a standalone asset tracking solution among divisions and departments of large organizations.”

SAP INTROS BI VERTICALS

SAPSAP continued on a path it started last fall with the launch of vertically focused analytic applications with the launch of six next entries in the Business Objects line. The six new applications are IP Rights Analysis, Upstream Operations Performance Analysis, Staff Productivity Management for Healthcare, Healthcare Practitioner Spend Analysis and Reporting Planning for Public Sector, raising the number of applications in this effort to 16.
