UNIT 4 REPORTS DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH

Unit 4, which markets the Coda and Agresso software lines, reported that it had double-digit increases in revenue and income for both the year and fourth quarter ended December 31.  The company, which does not use resellers, said that revenue for the most recently ended quarter was about $170.5 million, up 20.7 percent when measure in euros. ACCELLOS NAMES GM

Accellos has named Bill Knapp, formerly president of vSync, as general manager of its shipping and EDI products and its Supply Chain Essentials product line. Knapp joined the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based company in January when it purchased vSync. He became an Accellos GM in the fall and continues to manage the automatic data collection team and vSync from the vSync office in Columbus, Ohio. Read more...

QBES GROWTH ACCELERATES

Maybe it’s the economy, that is, businesses out to save money opted for Intuit’s QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions. Whatever the case, there were 51,000 active customers at the end of Intuit’s second quarter ended January 31, up 24.3 percent from 41,000 from a year earlier. That’s an increase of 45.7 percent up from 35,000 two years earlier.

NETSUITE'S NELSON PROMOTES VAR ROLE

Zach NelsonWith much of a panel at this week’s Goldman Sachs Technology Conference dismissing the roles VARs could play with SaaS-based products, NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson voiced support for the importance of resellers. Nelson’s comments, available via webcast (and if the panel’s was, I didn’t find it), were that the channel can be cost effective. Read more...

DELTEK NAMES TOP VARS

Deltek logoDeltek has named this year’s Premier Partners, a selection that should be getting easier given the attrition in the company’s channel.  Deltek says there are now more than 45 business partners, but the last time I looked the count is complicated by large vendors like Unisys. More interesting, is there is now a separate page for Premier Partners, which suggests the company wants to steer business to them.

SAGE SAYS X3 BOOMS

Sage X3Sage says that it has grown the customer base for its X3 software by more than 10 percent since the launch of X3 V6 just over a year ago.  About 300 new customers have been added in that time to bring the total global count to more than 3,000.

VENDORS SPEND INTO RECOVERY

Companies appear to be taking advantage of improved revenue to ramp up spending, probably spending they were reluctant to make during the height of the recession. That’s suggested by the earnings reports by Deltek for its December quarter and Intuit for its January quarter. Read more...

ROSS IN THE CLOUD LAUNCHES

Ross Systems, which is owned by CDC Software, has introduced Ross in the Cloud, a SaaS version of its Ross ERP suite. This application is hosted by Ross and is available on a monthly subscription price based on number of users, application configuration and service term. Read more...

SYSPRO SPONSORS GUIDE

Syspro has hired consulting firm, iPlan Industrial Engineers, to write a guide that helps executive decision makers set strategy for selecting, implementing and operating ERP systems. Syspro said the process is based around iPlan’s “Degrees of Freedom” framework with the book providing different strategies for “1) the system aspect, 2) the business processes aspect and 3) the people organization aspect in achieving the business objective.”

EXACT MAKES SOME PROGRESS

With the new CEO, Martijn Janmaat, making comments about changes that represent a continued reflection on the job performance of his predecessor Raj Patel (my view), Exact reported improvement in its financial condition. While revenue dropped by 1.9 percent for the year ended December, it grew in the second half with growth accelerating in the fourth quarter.
