SAGE EXECUTIVE PAY DROPS

Guy Berruyer, SageCompensation for the two top executives for the Sage Group dropped by double digits for the year ended September 30. CEO Guy Berruyer earned about $1.5 million for fiscal 2012, down 27 percent from the prior year. CFO Paul Harrison got roughly $862,000, a similar drop. Only pay for the members of the executive committee is reported and the other member, David Clayton, left the board in February 2012, but continued work until June last year.

CCH SALES TAX OK FOR DYNAMICS AX

cch logoThe CCH Sales Tax Office has been certified for integration with Dynamics AX 2012. However, the big news with CCH is less about links to a particular software package than its showing activity in this market. CCH acquired the former SpeedTax in July 2011 and seemed to go into hibernation in the sales-and-use-tax market. The Sales Tax Office is one of three editions developed from that purchase. But one of the real metrics for CCH in this market is its visibility at the Microsoft Convergence conference, being held next week in New Orleans.

BLACKBAUD FORMS NEW GROUP

 Wendy Fox, BlackbaudBlackbaud has formed an information management and strategic services group and named Wendy Fox as the VP to head it. The Charleston, S.C.-based nonprofit software vendor said the group “will focus on delivering strategic business information that is timely, reliable, complete and actionable to help nonprofits make data-driven decisions in key areas such as multi-channel marketing.”

INFOR GETS ORACLE VP FOR ION

 Steve Moroski, InforInfor should probably be known as Oracle East given the depth of its executive staff that has left Larry Ellison’s empire. The company, headed by CEO Charles Phillips, an Oracle alum, hired Steve Moroski as SVP of Platform Technologies. Platform in this case means ION, which Infor calls an integration framework and also its fastest-growing and top-selling product. Read more...

DYNAMICS: PRICES SO LOW WE’RE ALMOST....

Those who can remember TV actor, the late Jerry Carroll for Crazy Eddie as the frenetic pitch man for the disgraced electronics chain, Crazy Eddie, might have a touch of nostalgia when visiting the Microsoft website. There always seems to be a discount on the Microsoft Dynamics Community blog. Right now, the site is features in the Big Easy 10 and Cloud Easy for Microsoft's second half ending June 30 and the name presumably stems from the New Orleans site for its Convergence conference next week.

BCS PROSOFT PICKS UP NETSUITE

Clark Haley, BCS ProSoftThe cloud wagon (well why not call it that) keeps building with veteran Sage reseller, BCS ProSoft signing to carry NetSuite. BCS, based in San Antonio, Texas, will be peddling the SaaS product from its operations in Texas, Colorado and Hawaii. The VAR claims more than 1,500 clients. Read more...

AVALARA SIGNS A BUNCH

Marshal Kushniruk, AvalaraSales-and-use tax provider Avalara has been busy enlisting more partners through alliances with OEMs and integrations with other applications. Late in February, it signed Dynamicweb North America as a solution partner. That means the maker of eCommerce and content management products is integrating Avalara's products directly into its system. Early this month, it announced its certification of the Oracle E-Business Suite integration for AvaTax, offered via the MuleSoft integration platform.

SALESFORCE SETS $1B DEBT OFFERING

SalesforceSalesforce.com has priced a $1 billion convertible note offering. And usually, I would not bother with this kind of deal, but it's not being done to refinance debt and since Salesforce is doing rather well, you have to start thinking acquisition. The press releases from the CRM vendor about the notes rattle off the usual kinds of use of the proceeds - general corporate purposes, possible acquisitions or investments and working capital and capital expenditures.

VALUE UNIT VP HUNTER EXITS SAGE

 Sam Hunter,  SageThe latest Sage North America manager heading for the door was Sam Hunter, not be surprising given his title. Hunter is SVP and general manager of the Value Business Unit and Sage Fixed Assets and with Sage sunsetting value products such as Sage Pro and PFW that is not going to leave a large portfolio. Hunter left on March 1, although his picture is still on the Sage website of senior executives and managers, but so is that of former CFO Marc Loupe.

A CROWD ON ACCOUNTNG'S LOW-END

Erik van der Meijden, ExactIf you have been following the market, you've noticed that there are a lot of companies that want to sell low-cost accounting software in the United States. Of course, there is Intuit with TurboTax Online. Then there is that crowd that has come over from another country or is planning the trip. Wave Accounting is from Canada. Sage brought its Sage One over from Europe last year and Exact has plans to do the same with its Exact Online before 2014.
