INFOR POSTS MODEST 1Q GROWTH

Charles Phillips, InforYou can understand why Infor would want to talk non-GAAP numbers. For its first quarter ended August 31, there was a 1-percent rise in revenue accompanied by a 1-percent hike in operating expenses. Yawn. The company did post $23.1 million in net income, a rebound from a loss of $33.3 million in last year's corresponding period.

SUGARCRM SHOWING NEW VERSION

SugarCRMSugarCRM is debuting the next version of its open source CRM application this week. The preview is being made at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo. Sugar bills the system as "user empowerment-focused vision for next-generation CRM". However that gets defined, the new features include advanced social capabilities.

DELTEK LISTS AWARDS FINALISTS

DeltekDeltek has named two members of its channels as finalists for the Best Partner Project Award. The award recognizes a VAR and a customer who have delivered what the software company views as game-changing implementation. The finalists are Levick Strategic Communications and its reseller partner, Acuity Business Solutions, and Aercoustics Engineering Limited, and its VAR, Kennedy Vomberg.

CEO QURESHI LEAVES EPICOR

Joseph Cowan, EpicorPervez Qureshi, CEO of Epicor, has left the company to pursue the legendary new opportunities. There was no hint of an impending change until this week's announcement that Qureshi has been replaced as CEO and president by Joseph L. Cowan.  The reaction of my one-person sample of the reseller channel was probably shared by others. "Wow."

Joe Carroll, former Sage channel directorJoe Carroll, senior director of channel management, has left the job he held at Sage North America from April 2012 through last month. His LinkedIn page showed his career there ended after what he described as working with "the largest partner organizations to set and achieve growth goals for Sage products."

The Pleasant Grove, Utah-based VAR was officially given the SAP North America Partner Excellence Award 2013: Top Channel Partner - Cloud Solutions. Owner Grant Fraser said the company was successful with both sales of Business ByDesign and Business One OnDemand, which was introduced during the summer.

COLUMBUS BUYS OUT NORWAY INVESTORS

columbus logoColumbus, the Dynamics reseller based in Copenhagen, Denmark, has purchased the interest of minority shareholders in Columbus Norway. The parent now owns 100 percent of the subsidiary. Terms were not disclosed and the company did not disclose the size of the holdings of those investors. Columbus said the deal would not impact revenue and earnings for 2013. By itself, this brief statement is not that significant.

MILLER: NET@WORK DIDN'T SCALE BACK

Tiom Miller, Net@WorkThe last issue reported that Net@Work had scaled back its partner program because the company is focusing recruitment on the East Coast and Upper Midwest. But Tom Miller, leader of the VAR's Channel Partner group, said Net@Work has not scaled back. I guess scaling back is in the eye of the beholder. In my view, when a company had planned a national program and now it is only in two regions, well.
