RESELLERS AND OFFICE—GOING WHERE?

The recent press release from Microsoft about its Office 365, which is entering a world-wide beta, ought to be getting some attention from Dynamics resellers. Office 365 is something of a kitchen-sink approach to the cloud with plans that later this year "Office 365 will expand to include Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online to provide Microsoft’s complete business productivity experience to organizations of all types and sizes." FACEBOOK AS JOB BOARD?

Mint.com runs a little looser than many operations. The Intuit subsidiary is actively loading its Facebook page with very cleverly worded descriptions of job openings. Here is the recent posting for an opening for senior quality assurance/test automation engineer. "Tired of waiting for our mobile app updates? Know how to write automation scripts and file bugs? We're looking for (more like: HELP WE NEED SOMEONE!!!) another mobile QA engineer...come join us." Read more...

THE QUIET BBD VAR ENLISTMENT

So who is going to be reselling SAP's much-touted BusinessByDesign? After Arxis Technology announced it was on board, I thought there might be some announcements from other prominent resellers.  SAP historically has issued press releases when groups of resellers sign up. So what's going on? Arxis broke its news the second week in August, but had signed the papers with SAP a few weeks before. Read more...

SKYYTEK DOWNPLAYS CUSTOMIZATION

A lot of resellers have worried about their ability to provide customizations when the financial software market moves more to the cloud. Judging from a blog written by Ray Tetlow, CEO of Skyytek, they shouldn't worry about that because customizations aren't all that necessary. Tetlow wrote that 50 percent of Skyytek customers request customizations and about half of those are handled by existing functions in the software. Read more...

Sticking With Microsoft Office? It’s Almost A No-Brainer.

Did you hear that a bunch of 7th graders recently discovered a cave on Mars?  They were participating in the Mars Student Imaging Program at the Mars Space Flight Facility at Arizona State University.  These kids are twelve years old.  Last weekend. I took my kids to see Shrek 4. Like Einstein once said, most human beings only use about 10 percent of their brains.  That’s me. Read more...

THINKING LIKE A CEO

Thinking imageThe title here is not quite modest, but with Sage's new chief executive taking over, I started thinking of what I would do in his position. And it's something that Guy Berruyer hasn't done and maybe it's just the Sage culture. But since Sage relies on its channel, I would have immediately sent out a note to resellers telling them how much I valued them and would do everything in my power to ensure their success because Sage's success depends on them.
